*Ali Austin

Deputy Manager

NVQ Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.

Ali moved to Plumpton Green (from Hove) in 2018, realising an almost lifelong ambition to live in the village - her family were regular visitors to the racecourse and she attended a few farming courses at the college in her younger years.

Previously, Ali was a Teaching Assistant for 14 years at a Hove primary school and also ran their breakfast and after-school clubs for several years. She has extensive experience of, and training in, supporting children with dyslexia, dyspraxia ,attachment and behavioural issues as well as specialising as both an English and a Maths TA over the years.

Since making the move from Primary to Early Years, Ali wonders why she didn’t do it years ago! She believes that having the time and space to encourage young children to learn through play is vital and that conversation and gentle questioning can really stimulate their interest in learning and promote their development in all areas. She’s also keen on promoting a love of books by working her way through the extensive Honeybees library with both individuals and groups of children whenever possible.

Away from work, Ali is happiest riding her horse, walking her dogs, watching rugby and attending live music events from time to time.

She has an adult son and daughter of whom she is super proud!
