Dear Parents/Carers,
As you will be aware, Honeybees Preschool has been taking part in the Healthy Active Little Ones (HALO) programme.
The HALO programme is designed to support early years settings to reflect on their practice across a range of health and wellbeing areas, celebrate and strengthen what settings already do, and identify (and action) areas for further development. Health and wellbeing areas include healthy eating, physical activity, social and emotional wellbeing, independence in self-care and hygiene, oral health, speech, language and communication, immunisation and practitioner and parent/carer health and wellbeing.
As part of the programme, we have participatedin a range of training opportunities, and have been able to access practicalsupport, resources and information, and advice from a HALO Co-ordinator.
Following our involvement, we are excited to inform you that we have successfully achieved the HALO Excellence Award.
The HALO Excellence Award recognises our ongoing commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of children, staff, and families as part of an evidence based, whole setting approach. We have been able to evidence this through demonstrating improvement in both our health and wellbeing practice and healthy food provision in line with the Voluntary Food and Drink Guidelines for Early Years Settings in England.
This has also included submitting a case study of a health and wellbeing project focused on our preschool dog, Alba, promoting mental health and wellbeing that we have delivered and evaluated.
We would like to thank you and your children for the valuable input you have provided us with and for supporting us to achieve this award. We will always welcome further input and ideas from parents and carers in terms of further health and wellbeing improvements we can make within our setting.
Kind Regards,
Honeybees Preschool
